The men wait a while and then get orders to go back to the river. As they are walking Henry is thinking about his whole experience in war. He thinks about how cowardly he acted during at the beginning of the book. Then he thinks about all the good things he did in the recent battles and becomes happy, but then he is still reminded of how he ran in the first battles and also how he left the tattered man to die.Henry thinks about all the good he has done and the bad, and finally is able to put aside how horrible he feels for how he acted in the beginning of the book.Rain starts to fall and this makes Henry happy because it reminds him of a perfect world. This makes him feel like he has some manhood now. He sees a ray of sun over the river breaking through the clouds.
I wish it would tell about him coming home instead of just ending it now. I think Henry has become a better person because of the war. It has made him stronger and has helped him grow up faster. He now feels like he is a man, before he felt young and weak.
Does he go home now? Is the war over?
